Couple ends life in Kathua village

KATHUA, Aug 19: A young unmarried couple committed suicide by consuming some poisonous pills in Nagri Parole area of district Kathua this morning.
The dead bodies of both the boy and girl, were found lying in the field at some distance on the outskirts of the village in the morning. Both went missing from their respective homes late last evening. The families of both were opposing their marriage due to upper and lower caste and they decided to end their lives. They were identified as Ajay Kumar (19), son of Subash Chander of Nagri Parole and Sonia (17), daughter of Rohit Kumar of Nagri.
As the information reached their homes, they rushed to the site. They found their bodies lying at some distance from each other. They appeared to have struggled while dying. The matter was informed to police. Nagri police party rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to hospital for postmortem. An empty bottle of drugs was also found lying nearby.
The police after performing legal formalities and postmortem at local hospital, handed over the bodies to their respective families. A case has been registered in this connection.
