Couple killed, 5 hurt in mishaps

DODA, July 15: A couple was killed while five others were injured today in two separate road mishaps at Mukyas Morh and Bari in this district.
According to a police official, a couple was killed while their son and two daughters were injured when their Alto car bearing registration number CH01AV-0658 skidded off a hilly road and fell into a deep gorge at Mukyas Morh, early this morning.
“The ill fated vehicle was on its way to village Chilly when the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve”, Additional Superintendent of Police, Bhaderwah, Rajinder Singh said.
“After getting information of mishap, a team from police post Chilly rushed to the spot and rescued the five injured persons with the help of locals. The victims were rushed to Community Health Centre, Gandoh where Santoshi Devi (40) wife of Bodh Raj succumbed to her injuries”, the police officer said.
He said deceased’s husband, Bodh Raj, son, Deepak Singh and daughters, Verta and Poonam, were rushed to District Hospital Doda for specialized treatment. However, Bodh Raj died on the way to hospital near Batyas while condition of three others was stated to be serious.
A case in this connection was registered at police station Gandoh and investigation started.
Meanwhile, two persons were injured today when a Maruti car bearing registration number JK02AG-1303 skidded off the road and fell down into a gorge of at least 350 feet deep at Bari.
The injured persons were identified as Sajad Ahmed son of Bashir Ahmed Malik and Yasir Ahmed son of Ghulam Hussain Wani. Both injured are residents of Bari village of Marmat. They were shifted to District Hospital Doda for treatment.
The concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
