Couple killed, children injured

SAMBA, Nov 17 : A couple was killed while their children sustained serious injuries when a car in which they were traveling collided with a Punjab Roadways bus near Swankha Morh in Samba district early today.
According to a police spokesman, Ravinder Sharma, 45 and his wife Soma Devi, residents of Janipura, Jammu died on the spot while their children Sonali, 16 and Vivek, 10 were seriously injured when their car JK02U-0434 was hit by a Punjab Roadways bus PB02W-9991 this morning near Swankha Morh.
He said the injured were immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for treatment.
“The family was returning from Baba Sidh Goria Shrine and were on their way to their home, when the accident took place”, he said and added the driver of the bus managed to escape from the spot.
A case has been registered and manhunt launched to trace the driver. The police has also seized the bus.
Soon after the accident a team of Vijaypur police rushed to accident spot and shifted the injured to Government Emergency Hospital Vijaypur where the doctors declared Ravinder Sharma and his wife Soma Devi as brought dead while the two children were shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment.
Both the bodies were handed over to family members after completing of all formalities including postmortem by the police.
