Couple receives grievous burn injuries, wife battling for life

KATHUA, Mar 12: A couple received grievous burn injuries after the gas cylinder caught fire at their residence in village Chak Gopala falling under jurisdiction of Rajbagh Police Station in Hiranagar tehsil this afternoon.
According to reports Reva Devi, wife of Mohan Lal went to kitchen to cook meals for her husband who as usual came from his shop to have his lunch at his residence this afternoon.
As Reva Devi tried to burn the stove of cooking gas, the pipe had a leak and fire engulfed the entire kitchen. Mohan Lal who was outside in the room entered the kitchen to save his wife but he too received grievous burn injuries.
The couple was taken to GMC Hospital Jammu where they are undergoing treatment. However Reva Devi has received 90 percent burn injuries and she was battling for her life till last reports came in.
The Rajbagh Police has registered a case. The Police has recorded the statement of Reva Devi who has stated that it was an accidental fire and there was no foul play in it. Her parents too had given the same statement as per the reports.
