JAMMU, June 10: A three-day-long course on “Anti-Human Trafficking” commenced at Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy here today.
As per a statement, 17 officers from various units of the J&K Police are participating in the course.
It said the course covers topics such as the concept of human trafficking, child trafficking, causes and purposes, social and legal dimensions, case investigation, FIR drafting, search and seizure, arrest protocols, charge-sheet submission, relevant laws, case studies, NGO roles in child protection, police prevention strategies, and SOPs for missing children.
Eminent guest speakers from academia and various J&K Police units, including SKPA, will share their expertise.
Simultaneously, a 5-day course on new criminal laws has started at SKPA, with 48 officers from District Udhampur/Reasi attending.
This course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of new criminal laws and significant changes, enhancing participants’ knowledge and skills for modern law enforcement challenges.
Interactive discussions will compare old and new laws for better comprehension and application.
In his inaugural address, Chief Guest, Rajinder Kumar Gupta, SSP, Deputy Director (Indoor), SKPA, greeted participants, emphasizing their readiness to tackle contemporary law enforcement challenges.
He highlighted differences between old and new laws and SKPA’s commitment to providing relevant training. He also discussed international instruments on trafficking, including sex trafficking and forced labor.
While the 3-day “Anti-Human Trafficking” course is coordinated by Sandeep Mahajan, Inspector, with assistance from SI Dhian Singh the 5-day course on ‘New Criminal Laws’ is coordinated by Riaz.
