UDHAMPUR, Feb 22: A 3-day course on `Human Rights and Criminal Justice System’ which commenced on Feb 19, concluded at SKPA, Udhampur today. The Police officers from various units participated in the course.
Dr SD Singh, Director SKPA was the chief guest on the occasion, who in his valedictory address said that the Course was important in nature in which Academy has ensured all its possible efforts to arrange faculty from other reputed institutes and the logistic support as well. He said that the Human Rights as enshrined in Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Fundamental Rights are the foundation of Universal peace of all humans.
He also appreciated the role of eminent speakers i.e Dr Mahesh Kaul, Post Doctoral Fellow Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) New Delhi, Dr Savita Nayyar, Department of Law University of Jammu, Sheikh Shakeel, Advocate J&K High Court Jammu and Kameshwar Puri, DySP, SO to DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range who delivered lectures on topics concerning Human dignity, life, liberty & security, the role of Police in upholding rights of accused in the matters of arrest, detention and custody. There were also deliberations on various Human Right Treaties viz UDHR, BPPU, ICCPR, CAT, CCLEO.
Dr SD Singh was accompanied by Suraj Singh, DySP(R&D), Ramesh Chander Kataria, DySP, Tahir Hussain, DySP (Admn), Kuldeep Kumar, DySP and others.
