JAMMU, June 30: Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur, AK Koul has acquitted Suram Chand, son of Premu of Baduna Kud, who was facing trial in abetment to suicide case of his son and daughter-in-law.
According to the police case, on March 9, 2010 an information  was received at Police Station Kud that Soni Devi and her husband Sohan Lal have committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance. On this, police rushed to the spot and shifted dead bodies to hospital for postmortem.  During the course of investigation, it came to the fore that accused used to taunt and harass the deceased which forced them to commit suicide.
After hearing Advocate Ajay Bandral appearing for the accused whereas Public Prosecutor Navneet Gupta for the State, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “it is really unfortunate that the deceased have died an unnatural death, but the agony is that prosecution has not been able to make out a case against the accused beyond all shadows of doubt”.
“The exercise conducted by the investigating agency as well as the prosecution has ended in futility because the nexus between the guilt and accused has not been established as required under law. So the court has no option but to observe that the case is a failure”, Principal Sessions Judge said. Accordingly, the accused was acquitted of the charges leveled against him.
