Court acquits husband in abetment to suicide case

JAMMU, Oct 21: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu, Kartar Singh has acquitted one Dimple Singh, who was facing trial in abetment to suicide case of his wife as prosecution failed to prove the case.
According to the prosecution case, on May 6, 2008 an information was received in the Police Control Room that one Bharti Sharma, wife of Dimple Singh was admitted in the Government Medical College Hospital as a poison case.
On this, a cop was deployed to record the statement of Bharti Sharma. However, she died before recording her statement. Accordingly, the statement of father of deceased was recorded and he stated that Dimple Singh was harassing Bharti Sharma for want of more dowry and she consumed poison in order to get rid of turture.
After hearing both the sides, Principal Sessions Judge held that the prosecution has miserably failed to prove its case against the accused beyond any reasonable shadow of doubt. Accordingly, the accused was acquitted of the charges leveled against him.
