JAMMU, Jan 18: Principal Sessions Judge Rajouri R N Wattal today acquitted Anu Verma and her brother Ajay Kumar, who were facing trial in murder of her husband Amitabh Bachan.
As per the case, on 14.10.2016, an information was received from reliable sources that corpse of a driver namely, Amitabh Bachan, son of Kirpa Ram of Khersoo was found hanging in the bus. Accordingly, proceedings under Section 174 CrPC were initiated. Later, FIR was registered Under Section 302 RPC and during the course of investigation suspects were arrested.
Accordingly, it came to the fore that Anu Sharma was not happy with the marriage and she used to reside at her parental house at Salyot and the same was the discord between them. On 13.10.2016, Amitabh Bachan parked his bus bearing registration No. JK02BK-7975 at Main Chowk, Water Point in MES Ground and on the intervening night Anu Sharma strangulated the deceased with the assistance of her brother. Principal Sessions Judge Rajouri RN Wattal after hearing both the sides, the court observed, “evidence brought on record by the prosecution regarding complicity of the accused in the commission of crime is not convincing and beyond shadow of doubt and accused are entitled to be given the benefit of doubt”.
Accordingly, the chargesheet was dismissed and accused acquitted of the charge under Section 302 RPC. They were directed to be released forthwith if not detained in any other case.
