Court awards 5 yrs RI in attempt to murder case

JAMMU, Dec 17: Principal Sessions Judge Ramban Mohd Akram Choudhary today awarded five years rigorous impriosnmnet and fine Rs 20,000 to Parbat Singh, son of Nagar Thakkar of Banihal, who was facing trial in attempt to murder case for the last 13 years.
On April 25, 1999 the accused had launched murderous attack on Chain Singh Bali and Kaka Ram, sons of Prabhu of Chapran by firing upon them with the weapon issued to him in his capacity as Village Defence Committee member. Accordingly, a case was registered at Police Station Banihal.
After hearing Public Prosecutor G N Manhas appearing for the State whereas Advocate K S Bali for the accused person, Principal Sessions Judge awarded rigorous imprisonment for a period of five years and a fine of Rs 20,000 under Section 307 RPC and rigorous imprisonment for a period of two years under Section 506 RPC and rigorous imprisonment for a period of six months under Section 30 Arms Act to the accused.  The Court, however, clarified that both the sentences will run concurrently.
