Court awards life imprisonment after 25 years trial

JAMMU, Mar 27: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Vinod Chatterji Koul today decided an oldest murder case and awarded life imprisonment to the accused Abdul Rashid, son of Sain Mohd of Jammu.
The case was registered at Police Station Satwari on February 9, 1993.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Rakesh Kumar Badyal for the State whereas Advocate B L Chatha for the accused, the court observed, “Section 302 RPC is sentence of death or life imprisonment and fine. As the case does not fall within the category of rarest of rare case, life imprisonment would be appropriate sentence”.
Accordingly, life imprisonment was awarded to the accused.
