Court awards one year imprisonment to cheat

JAMMU, Nov 4: Chief Judicial Magistrate Ramban, Kusoom Pandita has awarded one year imprisonment and fine of Rs 1000 to Abdul Gani, son of Lasu Sheikh of Neel Batu, who was impersonating himself as a clerk in Deputy Commissioner’s office and was resorting to cheating the innocent people.
While awarding sentence, CJM observed, “there is nothing on record to disbelieve the contention of prosecution witnesses including the complainant. It is an admitted position that trust worthy evidence given by single witness would be enough to convict an accused person”.
With these observations, Court awarded one-year imprisonment and fine of Rs 1000 to Abdul Gani, who cheated people by impersonating himself as clerk to DC.
