Court convicts ISM doc in impersonation, cheating case

Srinagar, Aug 27: A local court here convicted an Indian System of Medicine (ISM) doctor for seeking information of the department under RTI on different names.
The 2nd Additional Munsiff (Judicial Magistrate 1st class) Srinagar convicted one Dr Zahoor Ahmad Tantray working in ISM for gathering the information from the department under the different name.
In this connection, a communication came to be forwarded to the concerned police station and after thorough investigation an FIR came to be registered and challan was produced before the court of law.
The court framed charges against the accused Tantray under various sections of Ranbir Penal code.
The court today concluded that the prosecution has proved its case against the accused Tantray. Court said the accused had cheated the officials of the Department of ISM by filing RTI applications on different names by using forged documents as genuine.
“As such the accused is convicted for offences punishable in terms of Sections of 419 and 471 of the RPC”, read the judgment.
The court shall announce the quantum of sentence to the accused Tantray tomorrow till the court directed the accused shall be detained at Central Jail Srinagar.
