Court directs removal of obstructions outside SSH

Srinagar, Apr 1: A local Court here directed the authorities to clear the SMHS and Super Speciality Hospital in the heart of Srinagar City from hawkers and wrong parking and take stern action against any of the violators.
Additional Special Mobile Magistrate presided by Shabir Ahmad Malik hearing the plea observed that the issue involved in the case is serious in nature and directed the Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation to remove the hawkers from the footpath area of SMHS Hospital and Super Speciality Hospital Srinagar in accordance with law.
The court also directed the Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar to take strict action against the vehicles which are being parked on the road side of both hospitals and submit the compliance report before the court.
Court passed these directions to an application filed by Taha Hussain Bhat of Nawab-Bazar Srinagar who sought removal of illegal hawkers from the pavement and ensure that no vehicles are parked outside the emergency road of Super Speciality Hospital.
Advocate Syed Musaib during proceedings of the case apprised the court that with the expansion of SMHS hospital and creation of the Super Speciality hospital on the opposite side of the road, illegal mushrooming of hawkers have taken place on footpaths resulting into extreme inconvenience for the common people in general and the patients in particular.
He has further informed the court that the problem has aggravated due to wrong parking on the road side of these hospitals and the inaction on part of the authorities threatens the life of the patients in transit on every day.
