Srinagar, Dec 26: A Special mobile magistrate discharged the French journalist arrested by the police in Srinagar on charges of visa violation.
The French journalist, Paul Edward Comiti, was arrested by police on charges of visa violation on December 10 from Press Enclave. He was, however, released on bail last week.
Paul was carrying out journalisitic activities in Kashmir on a business visa. Following his arrest, head of French Embassy’s Counsellor section flew to Srinagar and met the police.
Paul was released from police custody on December 12 evening, but his belongings were still with the police.
Paul is now with the French embassy counsellor section head Philippe Ducornet in Srinagar.
Police Station Kothibagh had registered an FIR vide number 87/2017 under section 14 (B) of Passport Act against Paul.
