UDHAMPUR, Aug 20: Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Udhampur today framed charges against all the 12 accused persons allegedly involved in extortion of money worth crores of rupees from an industrialist Raj Kumar Gupta on the pretext of selling him so called precious metal ‘Trath Gola’.
Charges were framed in case FIR No. 110/2013, under Section 420, 120-B/RPC P/S Kud (Under Investigation with Crime Branch Jammu), preliminary charge-sheet of which was produced by Crime Branch Jammu on 26-12-2018.
As per the case, complainant- Raj Kumar Gupta was lured and assured by the accused Mohd Iqbal Mir and Pervez Ahmed Mir, both residents of Batote, on the pretext to purchase of precious metal (Trath Gola) from some Bakerwals at Patnitop, who were already planted by them to participate in a pre-planned game of looting hard earned money of the industrialist. The victim was induced that he would become a successful and popular businessman just like big industrialists of the country after which he paid an amount of Rs 5.60 crores to the accused for purchase of the so called precious metal (Trath Gola).
The case was initially registered with P/S Kud on the written complaint. Later the investigation of the case was transferred to Crime Branch Jammu. During investigation allegations were proved against 12 accused persons by Crime Branch Jammu and charge sheet was accordingly produced before the court of CJM Udhampur.
The court in its proceedings, has framed charges against Irfan Hamid Zargar, son of Abdul Hamid Zargar of Drundi Bhala (A/P near Dak Banglow Doda City); Mohd Iqbal, son of Haji Suba of Mansar; Mohd Akhter Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir of Batote; Muddasir son of Mohd Iqbal Bakerwal of Mansar ; Abdul Jaleel , son of Haji Soba of Mansar ; Ventakata Krishana Madgula, son of Shiv Ram Babu of Podena Rao Nagar (Tester of Trath Gola); Parvej Ahmed Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir of W.No. 01, Batote; Mohd Tahir Bakerwal son of Haji Soba of Mansar; Imran Khan son of Abdul Jaleel Bakerwal of Mansar; Gundeep Singh son of Balwant Singh of 281/F Sainik Colony Jammu ; Angat Manhas son of Hakam Singh of Kandhote Tehsil Thathri District Doda and Sandeep Singh Rana son of Naib Singh Rana of Parnote Tehsil Doda.
While framing the charges, the court observed that there is sufficient material available on the file, prima facie presuming the commission of offence by the accused and therefore they are accordingly charged for the commission of offences under Section 420, 120-B, IPC.
