Court frames charges in Akhnoor sex scandal

JAMMU, May 17: Presiding Officer of Fast Track Court Kishore Kumar today framed charges in the much publicized Akhnoor sex scandal.
The charges under Section 376 have been framed against Pawan Kumar alias Pappa, son of Balak Ram, Amit Gupta, son of Chaman Lal, Anil Magotra, son of Harminder Lal, Harminder Singh alias Mintu, son of Babu Singh and Rahul Gupta, son of Inder Parkash, all the residents of Akhnoor tehsil.
The accused Hardeep Tangotra alias Sahil alias Rehan, son of Krishan Lal has been charge sheeted for the commission of offences under Sections 376/511.
According to the police case, on December 2, 2015 complainant Surinder Kumar filed a written report in the Police Station Akhnoor alleging that his 15 years old daughter was missing from his house since November 12, 2015. He informed that during enquiry conducted at his own level the complainant had come to know that one Abhi alias Gulshan Kumar, son of Tarsem Lal of Pathankot, who used to visit the school of her daughter, had kidnapped her.
Accordingly, a police team visited Pathankot along with complainant and recovered the prosecutrix from the possession of accused Gulshan Kumar. Later, other accused were also arrested.
After hearing battery of lawyers for the accused persons whereas APP Vijay Kumar Sharma for the State, the court observed “on the basis of the material on record prima facie in shape of the facts of the case as emerging in the documents collected and statements of the witnesses recorded by the investigating agency including the CDRs, (Call Detail Records) there is sufficient material on record for framing charge against the accused persons”.
