Court grants 10 days police remand of cheats

JAMMU, Oct 8: City Judge Jammu, M S Manhas today granted 10 days police remand of four persons namely Mohd Iqbal, Mohd Tahir, Abdul Jalil and Mudassir Ali, who had cheated Jammu based businessman of about Rs 8 crore.
According to the Crime Branch, one Raj Kumar Gupta, son of Sardari Lal Gupta of Gandhi Nagar lodged a complaint mentioning that Venkata Krishna Modegula, D Balasubranayam Tirupati, Gowhar Hussain Rather, Afroz Ahmed Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed, Sohail Ahmed Khan, Imtiaz Ahmed Khan, Bilqees Mir, Mohammad Maqbool Dar, Irfan Ul Hamid, Sheikh Irshad, Mohammad Ishtiaq Lone, Syed Gulzar Ahmed, Abdul Rashid Malik. Manoj Kalsi, Balbir Singh, Parvez Ahmed Bakarwal, Tahir Bakerwal, B Ramakrishna, Raju Kumar Singh, Ajay Saini and Ashok Tak approached him from time to time and motivated him to purchase precious article called Rice Puller.
The complainant owing to the allurements agreed to the proposal and in the process transferred and paid lakhs of rupees to the accused persons through bank transactions and cash. However, the accused persons after taking the huge sum of money vanished into thin air.
On the receipt of complaint a preliminary verification was initiated in Crime Branch and it was found that complainant after being allured by the accused persons had transferred/paid a huge sum of money through RTGs from different banks and through cash for the purchase of Rice puller.
The omissions and commissions on the part of Venkata Krishna Modegula, son of Sai Siva Rama of Secundrabad Hyderabad, D BalasubranayamTirupati of East West Vintrade Pvt Ltd, Gowhar Hussain Rather, son of Yousaf Rather of Anantnag, Afroz Ahmed Khan of Srinagar, Mushtaq Ahmed of Lalpura, Kupwara, Sohail Ahmed Khan of Anantnag, Imtiaz Ahmed Bhat, son of M Subhan of Khanabal Balapora, Anantnag, Bilqees Mir, wife of Imtiaz Ahmed Bhat, Mohammad Maqbool Dar of Kupwara, Irfan Ul Hamid, son of Ab Hamid of Doda, Sheikh Irshad, son of Sheikh Manzoor Rof Udrana Bhaderwah, Syed Gulzar Ahmed, son of Qamar Din of Damal Hanjipura, Abdul Rashid Malik, son of Gh Mohammad of Kulgam, Manoj Kumar Kalsi, son of Khushal Chand of Krishna Nagar, Jammu, Balbir Singh, son of Mehar Singh of Krishna Nagar, Parvez Ahmed Bakarwal of Mansar, Tahir Bakerwal of Mansar, B Ramakrishna of Kolkata, Raju Kumar Singh of Kolkata, Ajay Saini of Jaipur and Ashok Tak of Jaipur, prima facie, constitute offences punishable under Section 420, 406, 120-B RPC.
Accordingly, a formal case has been registered at police station Crime Branch.
