JAMMU, June 2: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu, Jang Bhadur Singh Jamwal today granted bail to Ravinder Gupta alias Gola Shah in two FIRs registered at R S Pura and Gandhi Nagar Police Stations.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Choudhary Shabir Ahmed for the State and Advocate Vishal Sharma for the applicant, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “the present case is virtually hinges upon the documentary evidence which is already available with the prosecution agency. Further continuation of the petitioner in police or judicial custody will not serve any purpose and will not be good in the administration of justice”.
“In the present set of circumstances, the petitioner has made out a good ground for grant of bail in his favour. The offence alleged to have been committed by the petitioner is neither punishable with death penalty nor imprisonment for life and the embargo laid down in Section 497 CrPC does not stands attracted for bail being taken”, the Court further observed.
Accordingly, the petitioner was admitted to bail and court directed that she should be released if not required in any other case, subject to his furnishing bail and personal bonds to the tune of Rs 1 lakh each in both the FIRs.
