Srinagar, Aug 19: While taking a note of alleged defamatory videos uploaded by an RTI activist in North Kashmir’s Baramulla, a local court has issued summon to the accused directing him to ensure his presence during the next hearing of the case.
After the examination of a 10-page report submitted by the Superintendent of Police Cyber Police Kashmir Zone, the Court of Sub Registrar Srinagar has taken cognizance of the offence prima facie committed by the accused who is also an RTI activist, Siraj Ud Din Salam of Shalimar Colony Kanispora Baramulla, under Section 500 IPC.
Following the perusal of the report, summon has been issued by the court to the accused and has been directed to remain present before the court on September 16 which is also the date of the next hearing of the case.
It is to be noted here that the RTI activist in a series of videos that were uploaded on social media had accused corruption and malpractices at the office of the ARTO Baramulla, while also alleging that the concerned ARTO was hand-in-glove with the unscrupulous elements in the district.
Notably, on March 23 this year, the Cyber Police was directed to investigate the videos and statements made by the accused persons against the ARTO Baramulla.
However, during the investigation, the accused has failed in proving the allegations that he levelled against the concerned official, following which the police filed a report in the matter and the proceedings of the case were set off.
