Court orders NC leader to appear on July 17

SRINAGAR, June 8: The court directed National Conference woman leader and former Legislator Shamima Firdous to appear in person on July 17 in response to the filing of a case by Rashtriya Lok Jan Shakti Party National general secretary Sanjay Saraf in the Additional District and Sessions Court.
While addressing a press conference, Saraf said that he approached the court stating in his petition that Shamima Firdous, has filed a police complaint against him at Kothi Bagh Police Station. She filed a false complaint in which the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, acquitted him. He said that Shamima Firdous later approached the court of District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar and filed a review petition, where the court also dismissed the petition
Saraf quoted the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar as saying, “There is no witness or evidence that the respondent (Saraf) has any hand in any crime”. He demanded a compensation of Rs 10 crores to provide compensation for the physical and mental harm he suffered as a result of the court case. Saraf said that is associated with a national party and if the then ruling party of the National Conference and his member of the assembly took this attitude against him, then God knows the fate of the common man. Saraf demanded that all the cases registered during the National Conference need to be taken into account because the party used to register cases against its political rivals on the basis of extreme bias. He said that the compensated amount will be spent on welfare of people, treatment of drug addicts and development works.

Expressing concern over the regular ration cuts in Jammu and Kashmir by the Department of Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs and public Distribution, Saraf said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should be provided reasonable amount of ration.He said that For the past 30 years, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been facing economic and financial distress and the Centre should reconsider its decision and provide ration to the people of Jammu and Kashmir as before.
