SRINAGAR, July 18: A local court today directed the social media not to publish or post any kind of article or debate on its sites made by the Apni Party leader against the senior PDP leader and former minister Farooq Ahmad Andrabi.
The 2nd Additional Munsiff Srinagar presided by Shahber Ayaz passed the direction in a plea filed by the PDP leader-Andrabi against the Apni Party activist Bashir Ahmad Bragami and heads of various social media sites submitting that on July 3 the Apni Party leader while appearing in an interview on ‘JK Live News’ which later was made viral on all social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter Communication and Google India had made baseless and incorrect statement to malign the political image and status of him.
He contended that these social media platforms have circulated the video of interview to malign the reputation. As per him Bragami has stated in the interview that he (Andrabi) has appointed many candidates in bank in lieu of money from Devsar, Kokernag and Shangus areas of district Anantnag.
The court after hearing Andrabi’s counsel Vaseem Aslam said the case for granting interim relief has been made out and the counsel Aslam has succeeded in establishing that in case the order is not made in his favour the applicant-Andrabi, loss and injury would be caused to him.
Court as such refrained the social media platforms from publishing, republishing, posting, carrying out any further report or articles or any other matter telecast or repeat telecast or debates of any discussion of any kind till objections are filed by them to the plea of Andrabi.
He adds that the Apni Party leader is a renegade and in order to achieve the political scores has made defamatory statements against him without any basis. With regard to social media platforms, Andrabi apprised the court that they for their ‘television rating points’ have made the said concocted story of Bragami viral which is a willful act and thus are prejudicial to the political career of him.
