NEW DELHI, Nov 20:
The Supreme Court on Monday sought a reply within two weeks from the Central Bureau of Investigation, to a plea seeking enquiry into the suicide of B K Bansal, former director general in the corporate affairs ministry, and his family members.
A bench of the apex court, headed by Justice A K Goel, observed that “there must be some reasons behind the suicide.” Mr Bansal, 59, was being investigated by the CBI on charges of bribe-taking.
He was on bail when he killed himself. Bansal in a suicide note had named some CBI officials who, he said, had harassed him, and tortured and abused his wife and daughter.
The Supreme Court asked the CBI to file its reply in two weeks also on why Bansal’s wife and daughter committed suicide after the agency raided their residence in July 2016. (UNI)
