Court upholds 2 yrs imprisonment to driver

JAMMU, Sept 8: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua Vinod Chatterji Koul upheld two years imprisonment awarded to Davinder Singh, son of Sukhvinder Singh of Punjab, driver of a Tata Sumo in an accident case.
According to the police case, on March 10, 2006, rashly driven Tata Sumo bearing registration No. PB01-3557  hit a Maruti car bearing registration No. PB02/9255 as a result of which one passenger of the car died on the spot while as others received injuries.
Accordingly, a case was registered under Section 279/337/304-A RPC and after completion of investigation challan was presented. The Magistrate awarded two years imprisonment to the accused person, which was challenged before the court of Principal Sessions Judge.
After going through the grounds taken in the appeal, Principal Sessions Judge dismissed the appeal and sent the accused to District Jail for serving the sentence of two years awarded by the Trial Court.
