JAMMU, July 14: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu, Kartar Singh, today directed the SSP Vigilance Organization Jammu to conduct investigation into the complaint filed against Executive Engineer of Sewa Hydroelectric Project.
In a complaint filed by one Yash Pal Sharma, partner M/s Open Survey World Construction and Consultancy Firm, it has been alleged that Ved Parkash, Executive Engineer Sewa HEP Civil Division Stage-II Basohli was demanding bribe of Rs 10 lakh for release of payment against the works already executed by the company.
Since an amount of Rs 1.25 crore was involved and for the completion of rest of the work the firm needed money, the company under the compelling circumstances agreed to pay an amount of Rs 1 lakh as advance and rest of the amount on the payment of bills.
It was only after receiving Rs 1 lakh that the Executive Engineer got the part payment made. Since the firm could not pay the balance amount of bribe, its further payment was stopped. This compelled the firm to lodge a complaint before the court with the submission that necessary directions be issued to SSP Vigilance for registration of a case against Ved Parkash, Executive Engineer and others.
After hearing Advocate K S Charak appearing for the petitioner, Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu, Kartar Singh, directed SSP Vigilance for investigation under Section 156 (3) CrPC.
