SRINAGAR, May 19: Confusion prevailed at Kralgund area of Handwara after the test results of two suspects got interchanged because the patients had the same name.
One among them blamed the administration for the mix-up. A 27-year old man, Suhail Maqbool, said that uncertainty regarding the status of his test has caused a great amount of stress to him. He held administration responsible for the mistake and accused them of making his family vulnerable to the infection. “The fear of taking the infection home is worrying me the most,” he said.
Giving details about the series of events, he said that he came from New Delhi on 16th May and was immediately asked to undergo quarantine. “I was kept in quarantine at Saint Joseph Public School Baramulla and was discharged on 18th May,” he said, adding that a certificate of COVID-19 negative report was handed over to him with the stamp of BMO Sheeri of Baramulla district.
However, upon reaching home he received a call from the concerned Medical Officer that he has been handed over a wrong report. He told him that he had tested positive for COVID-19.”Once I reached home I got a call at evening from BMO Sheeri Baramulla and SHO Kralgund that you are a COVID positive. I was shocked as I had already received COVID-19 negative certificate at the time of discharge,” he said.
Upon requiring he was told that there was a mix-up in the reports and his report got interchanged with his name sake. “I was picked up and put under isolation ward at Kupwara district hospital without showing any positive reports,” he said.
He added that there is a confusion regarding his travel history as well. “They are saying my sample was collected at Srinagar but the fact is my sample was collected at Jammu Tawi Railway Station. I don’t know what to do. Administration is making mistakes repeatedly and playing with the lives of people,” he charged.
