JAMMU, Feb 17: CII J&K State Council held its Annual Session here today.
During the Annual Session, Chander Prakash Gupta was elected Chairman of CII J&K State Council and Sheikh Imran, Chief Operating Officer, Kehwah Group as Vice Chairman (VC) of CII J&K State Council for the year 2015-16.
Chander Prakash Gupta born in 1954 is a professional Civil Engineer, graduated in the year 1977 from MACT Bhopal (NIT), migrated to Jammu city from village Khour, tehsil Akhnoor in 1965 during Indo-Pak War. He completed his basic schooling from middle school Khour, DBN School and GGM Science College Jammu and also served in the State Government.
Gupta has also worked in Abu Dhabi in eighty’s and in J&K State Public Works Department for 20 years. He took voluntary retirement from his services. This is when he decided to get into his own business and started two companies namely J&K Heritage Resorts Private Limited (Hotel Fortune Inn Riviera) and TBA Infrastructure Private Limited, a premier road and bridges construction company.
“Skilling of the youth in J&K with the changing needs of the industry is the need of the hour and we feel that CII can contribute through skilling initiatives and youth related programmes”, said Chander Prakash Gupta.
Meanwhile, Kehwah Group is diversified into verticals like Silk, Handicrafts, Textiles, Transportation, Hospitality, Broadcasting and Infrastructure Development.
Mr Imran has done his schooling from leading boarding school in Ooty and followed his higher studies from the American University of Asia in Sharjah (UAE). He has done advance studies from Hudson Valley Community College, State University of New York in Albany, New York. Besides this he has been recipient of numerous prestigious national and international awards.
Earlier, Imran was also Chairman of CII Kashmir Zone for two last consecutive years.
