CPMG inaugurates modern Post Office at Jammu Cantt

JAMMU, Sept 17: Chief Postmaster General, J&K, John Samuel today inaugurated one more fully modernized and computerized Post Office at Jammu Cantonment.
The Jammu Cantonment Post office will provide post shop services, philately services and gold coin services in addition to mail services, speed post, parcel and banking services. Last month, two modernized Post officers were dedicated to the people at Jammu Market and Miran Sahib.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr Samuel said that two new Post Offices would be opened at Prem Nagar in Jammu and at Jagati township near Nagrota in the next few months. “As a part of Post Office Transfer Plan, Department is planning to expand the Post Office network  and to make all the Post Offices modern and customer friendly”, he said, adding “steps are being taken to modernize all Post Offices in Jammu city especially Vinayak Bazar, Talab Tillo, Sainik Colony and Channi Himmat”.
“The Department is also recruiting 175 GDS and 49 Postal Assistants in J&K Circle. The last date for sale of application for Postal Assistants through Post Offices is September 25, 2012 while as last date for receipt of applications by recruitment agency is October 1, 2012 for whole of the State except Ladakh division where the last date for receipt of applications is October 11”, he said.
R P Singh, Principal Director Defence Estates and Brig Pankaj Saxena, Chairman, Jammu Cantonment Board were the guests of honour. Sonam Yungdol , Joint Director Defence Directorate, Northern Command, Jagdeep Gutpa, Director Postal Services, J&K and Amit Sharma, Director Finance were also present  on the occasion.
