Crack down on illegal mining, police seize multiple vehicles

JAMMU, Oct 4: In a concerted effort to combat illegal mining, Jammu Police has launched a crackdown on those engaged in unauthorized extraction of natural resources.
During a recent operation across various locations in the South Zone of Jammu district, officers from Police Post (PP) Phallain Mandal, led by PSI Harish Chander, detained two vehicles carrying sand, both suspected of involvement in illegal mining. At the same time, PP Chatha, under PSI Karnail Singh, seized one more vehicle involved in similar activities. Notably, some of the impounded vehicles lacked registration plates. Additionally, PP Greater Kailash, led by PSI Wasim Bhatti, detained a truck/dumper under suspicion of illegal transport.
In total, three vehicles were confiscated under the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Satwari, while one vehicle was detained under PS Gangyal’s jurisdiction within the South Zone. The District Mining Officer has been informed, and necessary legal actions are being pursued against the offenders.
