Crackdown launched against miscreants misusing cyber space

Srinagar, Apr 4: After photos and videos of some police officers went viral on social media, police today said it launched a crackdown against ‘miscreants’ who allegedly misuse cyber space.
A police spokesman said it was reported and found that some videos and posts were uploaded and shared to ‘harm the repute’ of some professionals and officers. He said subsequently, police across Kashmir has activated its technical cells to monitor their activities on social media.
The police spokesman said that officials at police station Pantha Chowk, police station Zakoora and police post Chanapora have arrested some ‘miscreants who threatened these professionals and Government functionaries through  their posts and uploads’.
The arrests have come days after pictures and videos of police officials including a senior officer stopping an ambulance that was carrying one of the boys killed at Chadoora in Budgam district went viral. “Further investigation is going on in this regard,” the police spokesman added. The Director General of Police SP Vaid recently warned of action against those social media users ‘who indulge in anti-India propaganda’.
