Srinagar, Nov 2: The major crackdown against separatist leaders, ahead of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s rally in Srinagar on Saturday, is on and so far 200 of them including stone pelters have been arrested to scuttle their “Million March”.
Police have rounded up or put under house arrest around 100 separatist leaders and their activists from entire Kashmir valley for smooth conduct of the rally.
Government had reports that separatists may disrupt the rally and target those attending it so the known stone pelters are also being rounded up and so far around 100 of them have been arrested from across Valley.
The drive will continue this week and more stone pelters and separatist activists will be rounded up so as to ensure smooth passage for those attending the PM’s rally in Srinagar.
In the meantime, security in Kashmir valley especially Srinagar city has been tightened and surprise security checks of vehicles is being conducted in Srinagar city.
Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has established nakas at several places in Srinagar city to foil any militant attacks on the eve of PM’s visit.
