Crackdown over bootleggers continue, one more arrested with illicit liquor

JAMMU, Apr 10: In a crackdown over the people involved in smuggling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the holy town Katra, police today arrested a bootlegger along with large quantity of illicit liquor pouches.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, a team from Katra police station laid a naka at Panthal and intercepted a pedestrian on suspicious grounds.
During checking, police recovered 38 pouches of illicit liquor and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Anil Kumar, son of Shoba Ram, a resident of Panthal.
The accused carrying the illicit liquor on foot was about to deliver the consignment to consumers, but Katra police foiled his attempt by arresting him and seizing the illicit liquor pouches.
In this regard, a case under FIR number 51/15 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Katra police station and investigation started.
This the sixth case of liquor smuggling, which has been foiled by the Katra police since March 15 to till date.
Police team led by SHO Katra police station Inspector Kuldeep Krishan made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Katra Ravail Singh.
