Craft exhibition at Mubarak Mandi inaugurated

JAMMU, Apr 13: A craft exhibition by artists from Chhattisgarh, Punjab Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Assam was inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu at Mubarak Mandi. The art and craft of these states was exhibited by the artisans through their paintings and other items.
The Divisional Commissioner appreciated the work of these crafts men and showed keen interest in the paintings and other art related works. He went around the exhibition and interacted with the artisans and the visitors.
Earlier, the Divisional Commissioner was received by the Director Tourism Jammu, Soujanya Sharma, Assistant Curator, Rashtiya Indira Gandhi Manv Sansdhan Bhopal and other officers of Tourism Department.
In the evening, a cultural programme was also presented by the artists of Assam, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.
The artists of Rajasthan performed the famous puppet show of the state which revived the old memories of famous putali dance. The artists of Rajasthan depicted the various moods of puppets which were applauded by the huge gathering.
The Behu dance of Assam was another centre of attraction of the cultural evening. The young artists from Assam gave a scintillating performs which kept the audience spell bound. The Himachali dance also drew lot of applauds from the people.
The illuminated portion of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex was centre of attraction for one and all. The camel ride added more festival fervor to the show. The children enjoyed the joy ride of camel which will continue upto April 16, 2014.
The cultural programme at Mubarak Mandi will be organized daily by the artists from 7 p m onwards till April 16, 2014.
