Jammu, Sept 5: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Mandeep Bhandari chaired the meeting of the Executive Committee of Indian Red Cross Society Jammu, here today.
IGP Jammu, Dr. S. D Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Rajeev Ranjan, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Ravinder Kumar, Honorary Secretary Red Cross, R. C. Puri besides senior officers of the concerned department were present in the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner held detailed review of the action taken on the decisions taken in the last meeting of the committee and also of the activities carried out by the society.
Stressing the need to make Red Cross activities more meaningful, Divisional Commissioner emphasized that the need of the hour is to build a large pool of volunteers for ensuring participation of people from the grass root level.
All the Deputy Commissioners were asked to create a conducive environment for mobilizing resources for the humanitarian activities of the Society.
Divisional Commissioner exhorted upon DCs to ensure take requisite steps to maximize participation in the Red Cross activities and contributions to the society.
He directed the concerned that before providing driving licenses to the passenger vehicle drivers the ‘first aid training certificate’ should be made mandatory so that as in case of accidents they can provide first aid to injured people
It was given out in the meeting that the Regional Branch is regularly conducting First Aid/FMR Training programmes for workers of Industries/Corporate /Business Houses, Commercial Vehicle Drivers, Lecturers, Masters & Teachers of Education Department.
Also the Red Cross is conducting four days First Aid Training Programmes for the Commercial Vehicle Drivers before issuing of licence by the RTO.
