JAMMU, Mar 22: All eyes turned moist amidst wailing cries of the family members as body of Army Rifleman Yash Paul, who attained martyrdom in the line of action at border with hostile Pakistan in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri yesterday, reached his native village Mantalai in Chenani tehsil of Udhampur district, this morning.
The Army Jawans, carrying the mortal remains of Yash Paul had a tough time in managing the emotionally charged family members of the martyr, particularly his parents and wife Archana Kumari, who was frequently turning faint.
Yash Paul and Archana had tied their nuptial knot only six months back and since yesterday, when the news about martyrdom of the soldier reached home, the young widow was inconsolable and her wailing cries were turning the atmosphere extremely surcharged with heartache emotions. The martyrdom of 24-year old Yash Paul in hostile enemy action has completely shattered his entire family, which comprised his elderly parents, a brother and a sister besides his wife. Shocked father and mother of the martyr were seen earnestly pleading for their dead son to return alive.
Grieved over the loss of his son, the martyr’s sobbing father, Des Raj called for an `Aar Paar Ki Ladai’ with Pakistan to teach the hostile country a lesson once and for all. “Yeh Do-Char Ko Marne Se Kuchh Nahi Hoga, Eik He Baar Main Aar Paar Se Faisla Ho Jana Chahiye ( Killing two or four men of the enemy is not suffice and there should be a solution once and for all),” he said in a choked voice filled with anger.
Pertinent to mention here that Rifleman Yash Paul of Indian Army, had attained martyrdom in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri yesterday in unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops that resorted to shelling with mortars and firing of small arms.
Body of the martyr was flown to his native village this morning around 11.30 a.m through a special Army Chopper. Besides locals, a large number of people from adjoining villages and Chenani had gathered at Yash Paul’s residence to pay their last respect to the brave soldier.
After a wreath laying ceremony near the temporary helipad, body of the martyr was taken to his residence and later consigned to flames with full military honour around 1 pm.
Even as a large number of people had assembled at the residence of martyr and also at the cremation ground for paying their last respect to the brave soldier, who sacrificed his life for defence of the country, absence of senior officers from the Police as well as Civil administration and more particularly the political leaders was conspicuous.
Only SDM Chenani and SDPO Chenani were present there as representatives of the Administration while no prominent politician spared a brief time to visit the family for expressing solidarity and pay last respect to the martyr.
While the gathering was in grief over the martyrdom of brave soldier, people were also highly annoyed over the insensitive approach of political leaders towards martyr of the nation, who made supreme sacrifices for defence of the motherland.
