Crisis at Bhawan

Sir,
The recent flash floods in J&K have left many in shock and life has come to a standstill. It doesn’t matter who lived where but the scale of destruction devastated all of us. In these hours of common grief our brave military men  worked tirelessly against all odds, doing their best  to rescue those stranded in deep waters right in the middle. The heroic stories  of common masses and many other brave hearts are pouring in print as well as in electronic media inspiring million more to come forward, all are just outstanding! Meanwhile Its worth mentioning the tireless efforts of all the shrine board employees irrespective of the job assigned whose  timely efforts saved the lives of many  stranded pilgrims at Bhawan and of thousand others on the track.
At the time of crisis around 10,000 people were struck at the Bhawan only, all soaked and drenched including children, sick and old. The situation was scary because the main track and the new track both were closed because of land sliding and was washed away at places. Electric poles were broken and in total black out, generators were running short of supplies, water supply was choked and effected badly, above all no telecommunication network  was available and there was a feeling of complete shutdown. To accommodate and take care of such a huge crowd at such a small place was a great challenge for the administration. People were panicked and jam packed.  The administrative wing acted swiftly and coordinated with the supporting departments and ensured that no one was without food, water or medicines. The PHE people in collaboration with the electric wing repaired and restored the supply at war footing in hours and CRPF with JKP helped maintain law and order. SKC’s (Safaikaramcharis) job was among the toughest to maintain the hygiene with limited supply of water. People were evacuated swiftly and cautiously and the sick were transported with full escort.
The last evacuated person was a young girl named Shanti who had come all the way from US with her old parents  and was virtually speechless the way everything was managed without much chaos. None of the employee left the station until the situation was back to normal. Such a great job was done by Shri Mata Vaishno  Devi Shrine Board and it should not get un noticed.
Yours etc….
