R.S PURA, Jan 11: A delegation of farmers led by Sarpanch, Badrinath Sharma of Panchayat Halqa Kotli Shah Doula today called on SDM R.S Pura and demanded compensation for the farmers whose standing crops were damaged due to devastating rains.
Sharma told the SDM that the victim farmers now have nothing to depend upon except the assistance from Government.
He said, though the damage has been worked out but the relief to the affected farmers is still awaited and hoped that the Government will do something in this regard soon.
The Sarpanch also said that he will knock every door to seek compensation for the victim farmers as they have almost lost their source of sustenance.
He urged upon the Government to come forward with a package to help the distressed farmers in all possible ways.
“These farmers have also applied for compensation as per the instructions of Government and the crop damage during special Girdawari has also been confirmed,” Sharma maintained adding that the farmers have no money left with them for fertilisers, water and even pesticides for Rabi crops.
