Crorepatis galore in Cong, BJP

Congress MP Ramesh Kumar filed his nomination from South Delhi constituency today and declared his assets worth Rs 17 crore, an increase of over seven times since the last five years.
Sitting MP from South Delhi constituency, Kumar’s assets have increased over seven times in the last five years from Rs 2.5 crore to Rs 17 crore. He declared immovable assets, including the properties of his wife, worth Rs 7.5 crore.
Kumar and his wife together have declared movable assets worth approximately Rs 9.6 crore which includes 800 gm gold ornaments, currently valued at Rs 19.2 lakh.
The sitting MP has shown Rs 7.09 lakh as income in his last year’s income tax return while his wife has declared Rs 26,693 as income for the last financial year.
He has no cases pending against him and has no liability.
Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Tirath, who filed her nomination from North West Delhi, has declared assets worth approximately Rs 2.6 crore which includes her movable and immovable assets.
Tirath has shown Rs 8.1 lakh as income in his last year’s income tax return while her husband has declared Rs 14.5 lakh as income for the last financial year.
Tirath and her husband together have declared movable assets worth approximately Rs 2 crore which includes 1810 gm gold worth over Rs 45 lakh and 6,000 gm silver worth Rs 2.40 lakh approximately.
The couple has declared immovable property worth around Rs 2.85 crore in the affidavit.
Meanwhile, yesteryear’s Bollywood actor and TMC candidate from New Delhi constituency Biswajit Chatterjee has shown Rs 2.3 lakh as income in his last year’s income tax return.
Chatterjee declared movable assets worth Rs 33.5 lakh which includes his wife and children’s assets.
He has no immovable assets in his name but has shown Rs 3 crore property in the name of his wife. He has no liabilities.
BJP’s South Delhi candidate Ramesh Bidhuri, who filed his nomination today declared his assets including his wife’s movable and immovable properties.
Their assets have quadrupled from Rs 3 crore to Rs 14.7 crore in the last five years.
Bidhuri has shown Rs 6.1 lakh as income in his last year’s income tax return. He has four cases pending against him, in which court has taken cognisance.
He has declared movable assets worth Rs 63.4 lakh which includes the assets of his wife and three children.
His immovable assets which include agricultural, non agricultural, commercial and residential property is worth Rs 14.1 crore including his wife Kamla’s property. He has no liabilities.
Meanwhile, former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari, who will be contesting his debut Lok Sabha election from Nagpur, today declared his assets including a 1,050 sq ft flat worth Rs 3.87 crore in Mumbai and jewellery worth over Rs 86 lakhs.
The market value of his flat in a housing society at suburban Worli was Rs 52,05,000 when purchased in 2004.
According to affidavit submitted along with his nomination papers here today, Gadkari has jewellery worth Rs 86,16,230, along with Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) assets of Rs 59,87,562.
His wife Kanchan owns ornaments worth Rs 63,88,623.
Gadkari’s total investments in National Saving Scheme (NSS), postal and LIC mutual funds stood at Rs 1,55,200 and that of his wife’s at Rs 12,05,529.
While the senior BJP leader’s aggregate investments in shares stood at Rs 14,89,500, he is maintaining a balance of Rs 21,18,164 in accounts in eight different banks.
He has opened a separate bank account for electoral purpose with balance of Rs 7,01,000, while cash in hand is Rs 24,500, according to the affidavit.
Gadkari has invested Rs 11,86,500 and his wife Rs 18,40,000 in business.
As per the affidavit, he has taken a loan of Rs one crore from the Housing Development and Infrastructure Limited for the purpose of procuring property.
Gadkari’s total liabilities stood at Rs 1,30,35,000.
He has a fleet of vehicles worth Rs 14,70,000, the affidavit said.
Submission of affidavit is mandatory at the time of filing of nomination papers as per Election Commission rules.
Popular Bhojpuri actor-singer and BJP candidate Manoj Tiwari, who has filed nomination from North East Delhi constituency, has assets worth over Rs 19 crore.
Tiwari possesses eight houses— three in Mumbai, two each in Delhi and Varanasi and one in Thane along with two agricultural and non-agricultural lands.
He has five cars which includes Audi Q7, Innova, Mercedes Benz, Honda City and a Fortuner totally worth Rs 91.4 lakh.
Tiwari has shown 85.5 lakh as income in his last year’s income tax return.
His movable assets, which include 130 gm gold and 4.5 lakh cash in hand along with insurance policies and deposits, is worth approximately Rs 6.9 crore.
His immovable property which includes agricultural, non agricultural lands and eight houses is worth approximately Rs 12.9 crore.
Tiwari has a liability of Rs 3.4 crore. He has no cases pending against him.
Sahab Singh Chauhan also filed his nomination as covering candidate for Tiwari. He has declared over Rs 79.3 lakh as his movable assets and Rs 4.1 crore which also includes the assets of his wife and children. (PTI)
