Cross-LoC bus, trade remain suspended

JAMMU, Oct 9: Cross-LoC bus service and trade remained suspended on Poonch-Rawlakote route for more than three months now as there was no let up in heavy mortar shelling and firing by Pakistan army on the Line of Control (LoC) in forward villages of Poonch district.
Trade Facilitation Officer (TFO) Poonch, Tanvir Ahmad told the Excelsior that weekly bus on Poonch-Rawlakote route didn’t move as there were no channels of communication between the Authorities of Poonch and Rawlakote (Pakistan occupied Kashmir).
“The bus didn’t operate today and also there would be no trade this week too,” he said.
Cross-LoC bus and trade between two parts of divided States were suspended on July 10 following heavy shelling and firing by the Pakistani troops in forward villages of Poonch including Chakan-Da-Bagh from where the bus and trucks cross over to Rawlakote in PoK from Poonch.
Sources said there seems to be no immediate resumption of cross-LoC bus and trade on Poonch-Rawlakote route. However, cross-LoC bus was operating normally on Uri-Muzaffarabad route of Kashmir. Trade was also going on there as usual.
