JAMMU, Apr 12: Director General (DG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Dalip Trivedi awarded Constable Naresh Kumar, son of Tara Chand of Chak Sera, tehsil RS Pura on CRPF Day for showing heroism and bravery during naxals attack in Chattisgarh. Constable Naresh Kumar was also honoured by Commandant 166 Battalion CRPF stationed at Channi Himmat Jammu in presence of Dinesh Kumar Singh, 2 IC, Rakesh Sharma, NK Choudhary, JK Joshi and Suresh Kumar Sharma, DCs and other rank officials. It is to mention that on May 17, 2011, in Dhantewada district of Chattisgarh, Commandant 2nd Battalion, CRPF and SDPO Sukma visited company location at Kerlapal in a convoy of 3 vehicles. They were returning under cover of darkness when an IED was blasted by Naxals, in which a car was blown up. The impact of explosion was so potent that seven out of eight occupants of the vehicles died on the spot. The lone survivor Constable Naresh Kumar in spite of being critically injured regained consciousness and fired a volley of fire of 5 rounds, which restricted the naxals to loot the weapons and to cause any other damage. The selfless commitment and heroism of Constable Naresh Kumar constitutes a brave and gallant action which has few parallels in the annals of CRPF. He showed great presence of mind, even after being seriously injured by not only making naxals restricted by his constant firing but also prevent the looting of 8 weapons and other ammunitions.
