SRINAGAR, Mar 21:
An on-duty CRPF jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting self in the summer capital, Srinagar.
Official sources said that panic gripped Civil Secretariat in the city when gunshot was heard at around 0030 hrs. “Security forces deployed in the establishment rushed to the area from where the gunshot was heard and saw a jawan in a pool of blood,” they said.
They said the jawan was immediately taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. “The jawan, identified as Head Constable Dilbag Singh, had allegedly committed suicide,” they added.
They said it was not immediately clear why he committed suicide, adding that police has registered a case and initiated the investigation to ascertain the circumstances which forced him to take this extreme step.
After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased has been sent to his native place for last rites. (UNI)
