JAMMU, Apr 21: The mortal remains of CRPF jawan of 168 Bn, Sunny Salathai, son of Kultar Singh who laid down his life in Naxalite attack in Jharkhand on April 19 were consigned to flames at his native village Gurha Salathia near here today.
He was given Guard of Honour by CRPF Jawans. Former Minister and MLA Vijaypur Surjit Singh Slathia and CRPF DIG Sardara Singh were among various officers and political leaders who attended his funeral procession and laid wreaths on his body.
Earlier his dead body was brought from Jharkhand to Gurah Salathia this morning. A large number of people drawn from all walks of life attended his last rites and gave him a touching adieu.
It may be recalled that Sunny Salathia along with an officer of his Battalion attained martyrdom in Jharkhand during a routine patrolling after he was attacked by Naxalites there on April 19.
