SRINAGAR, June 6: A team of Asian Development Bank (ADB) officials led by Management Officer A. Kaneko today met Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey to discuss the progress of various projects that are under implementation in Jammu and Kashmir by J&K ERA under ADB funding.
Detailed discussion was held on Jahangir Chowk Flyover with ADB. The visiting team has been touring candidates of projects for tranche-3 of the loan which is approximately to the tune of Rs. 1200 crore.
The ADB team informed the Chief Secretary that the Summary Appraisal Reports of 6 projects has been completed by J&K ERA and will be now considered for advance contracting. The projects include Storm Water Drainage System for Rawalpora, Channapora, Bemina-Tengpora and balance laterals of Rawalpora-Tengpora and Poru Channapora, Water Supply Scheme at Srinagar from Doodganga Nallah, construction of Sub-ways at Jahangir Chowk, Lal Chowk, Dal Gate, Batmalloo and SKIMS Junction, etc.
During the meeting six other projects in Jammu and Srinagar cities were also discussed and J&K ERA was asked to submit Summary Appraisal Reports within next two months. The issue of Institutional Reforms in PHE, Housing and Urban Development Departments and Pollution Control Board also came up under discussion.
The Chief Secretary stressed on timely completion of projects by J&K ERA, submission of Summary Appraisal Reports and settling of all land acquisition and rehabilitation issues as early as possible.
The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer, J&K ERA, Saurabh Bhagat and other senior officers.
