KISHTWAR, Apr 27: Chief Secretary Mohd Iqbal Khanday alongwith Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Pradeep Gupta, Director Health Services and other officers chaired the meeting of all the District and Sectoral Officers of Kishtwar district, here today.
The DDC Kishtwar Saleem Mohd gave a resume of the various developmental activities in the district.
The meeting had a threadbare discussion on all the major developmental works and other issues related to health, education, agriculture and roads etc.
The DDC apprised the Chief Secretary that hurdles in Kishtwar-Dachhan road, Naigad Water Scheme and Inshan Nowapachi road besides the problems in land acquisition and rural electrification process.
The Chief Secretary gave on spot instructions to the officers to overcome these problems by utilizing the resources efficiently.
He also enquired from the GREF Authorities about the poor condition of Kishtwar-Thathri road and asked them to speed up the process of widening and blacktoping. He showed his great concern over the frequent road accidents in Kishtwar and asked the Police and Transport authorities to ensure strict measures to curb these.
While taking the issue of saffron development, he was informed that around Rs 80 lakh rupees have been distributed among the farmers but the Chief Secretary directed the department to ensure the irrigation facilities for increasing the output.
Principal GDC Kishtwar apprised the Chief Secretary about the need of separate bio science block and trained staff.
Later, various deputations called on the Chief Secretary apprising him of various issues and problems being faced by people of Kishtwar. The Chief Secretary gave a patient hearing to them and assured all possible help.
Earlier, CS visited Thathri and held a meeting with tehsil and block level officers besides various deputations.
MLA Inderwal, G.M Saroori, District Development Commissioner, Doda Mubarak Singh, Director Health Services Dr. Madhu Khullar, Chief Engineer R&B Tehsin Mustafa, Chief Engineer PDD Shehnaz Goni, DIG Doda – Kishtwar Range Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, Additional District Development Commissioner Doda G.N Balwan, Chief Planning Officer Doda Dr. Yassir Balwan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda Anil Koul, Assistant Commissioner Development Doda Rakesh Kumar, besides other District and tehsil / block level officers were also present.
Various deputations met the Chief Secretary and presented their demands which include construction of Bus Stand Thathri, timber sale depots in area, posting of Gynecologist in PHC Thathri, early finalization of MGNREGA plan for timely start of work, clearing of pending land compensation cases, exploring tourism potential, Sub-Division status to Thathri, survey of BPL beneficiaries, providing of adequate accommodation in various Government schools, upgradation of various schools, posting of teachers and lecturers in schools which are deficient of teaching faculty, irrigation facility in the area, PHC & Sub Centres for various far flung villages, sanctioning of pending old age pension cases, augmentation of existing water supply schemes and power supply network.
Mr. Khanday gave patient hearing to the demands and assured the deputations that the issues will be looked into on priority basis for their early redressal.
