CS reviews functioning of various departments

JAMMU, Dec 2: Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, while chairing the periodic meeting of the Committee of Secretaries, here on Monday, highlighted the role of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes and State initiatives in improving the socio-economic profile of the weaker sections and rural masses.
He said access to safe drinking water, sanitation, education, healthcare and information has seen vast improvement over the years and these welfare steps by the Jammu and Kashmir Government in reducing poverty and relative deprivation have been appreciated at various forums across the country.
Chief Secretary reviewed the status of winter stocking in Kashmir valley besides he also enquired about the readiness of the district administrations in snow clearance and measures being taken to ensure regular scheduled supply of electricity to the people in the winter zone.
While reviewing the status of Results Frame Work Document (RFD) for which the Government of Jammu and Kashmir was recently presented appreciation award by the Union Government  for effective leadership in its early implementation in the State, the Chief Secretary was informed that department-wise information has been uploaded on departmental websites. The Chief Secretary said that any deficiency in RFD implementation should be noted and immediately addressed.
Chief Secretary also reviewed the status of SMS based mechanism put in place for effective monitoring of important projects in R&B, PHE and PDD. He was informed by the IT Department that the software application is ready and the SMS mechanism will be finalized soon. SMS based monitoring mechanism has already been put in place to monitor projects under BADP.
The Chief Secretary also asked the Education Department to expedite the process of filling vacant posts of Principals and other staff in schools and colleges and sorting out issues in this regard.
The Chief Secretary also asked the departments to submit replies on the action taken reports of the House Committees to the Assembly Secretariat at the earliest.
