LEH, Apr 10: Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Dr Pawan Kotwal, chaired the 12th Governing Body meeting of the Ladakh Land Records Management Agency (LLaRMA) at the Civil Secretariat in Leh to review the progress of the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP).
The meeting began with a presentation by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Leh, who shared updates on the achievements so far and areas that need more support.
It was informed that digital surveys using the modern CORS network based on DGPS have been completed in thirty-five villages, and records for twenty-five of them have been published. The remaining villages are expected to be covered by the end of April.
Dr Kotwal said the project is important for Ladakh and should be completed during the current working season.
He directed the District Magistrates of Leh and Kargil to involve lamberdars in the village surveys on an honorarium basis to speed up the work.
The meeting also covered the physical and financial progress of the project and issues like manpower shortage, GPS hardware needs, and the development of a proper Management Information System. Regularising newly developed colonies was also discussed.
Dr Kotwal praised the work done by departments so far and stressed that updated and accessible land records will help reduce disputes and boost development.
He called for better coordination among departments and faster resolution of any challenges.
He said digitised land records will increase transparency, improve services, and support infrastructure projects in line with Ladakh’s development plans.
Senior officials from various departments, including Leh and Kargil district magistrates, attended the meeting. Officials from CPWD and NIC Pune also joined virtually.
Dr Kotwal urged everyone to stay focused and complete the remaining work on time.
