CS reviews status of recruitment, PMGSY, Panchayat Ghars

SRINAGAR, June 3: Reiterating Government’s commitment to enhance employability of youth, Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday today asked Administrative Secretaries to fast track the process of recruitment and construction of Skill Development Centres including Polytechnics and ITIs and other educational institutions in the State.
Chairing the periodic meeting of Committee of Secretaries, Chief Secretary said that the prestigious programme of recruiting over 70,000 youth in various Government Departments under the New Recruitment Policy announced by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should receive impetus and necessary steps of referring the vacant posts to the PSC and SSRB undertaken. He said that departments and recruiting agencies have to walk an extra mile to accelerate the pace of recruitment.
While reviewing the status of PMGSY implementation, widening of National Highway etc, Chief Secretary directed for settling all pending issues related to land acquisition and payment of compensation immediately in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
Chief Secretary also reviewed the progress of infrastructural development for effective implementation of Panchayati Raj including construction of Panchayat Ghars. He said that land availability issues in certain Panchayats should be addressed with active involvement and coordination by concerned Deputy Commissioner, Panchayat members and the Rural Development Department.
The meeting was informed that 2123 Panchayats have the requisite infrastructure already in place. For the remaining during the first phase as many as 1120 Panchayat Ghars were taken for construction out of which 800 are in final stage of completion and the remaining have some land related issues. During the 2nd phase as many as 668 more Panchayat Ghars are slated to be constructed and the initial process has already begun.
Chief Secretary also reviewed status of matters pertaining to RFD; SMS based monitoring, implementation of reservation rules, implementation of decisions taken in various State Advisory Boards, rehabilitation of dislocated people, status of welfare schemes etc during the meeting.
