CSKU protests, demands JMC reorganisation

JAMMU, Nov 24: Reorganisation of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) was among other demands which triggered protest demonstration by members of Civic Safai Karamchari Union (CSKU) here today.
The protest was led by Union president, Rinku Gill who told reporters that area of JMC has increased from 23 to 75 wards which now requires reorganisation of the Corporation for better services.
He said that strength of JMC staff should be increased on the analogy of SMC.
Gill also demanded regularisation of services of 33 drivers of JMC and recruitment of 600 Safai Karamchari (SKs) to fill the vacant posts in the Corporation.
He said that SKs working with JMC on behalf of NGO should be given preference in filling 600 posts of Safai Karamchari in the Corporation.
CSKU leader also demands increase in daily wages of JMC workers from Rs. 6700 to Rs. 18000 as per UT grades.
He demanded 2.5 day salary to sanitation staff of JMC apart from providing boots, jacket and uniform to the Safai Karamcharis.
Promotion of drivers and cleaners working with JMC since 2013 was among other demands along with weekly holiday to all Safai Karamcharis.
The protesters said if their demands were not conceded within 15 days then they will start Kaam Chod Hartaal from December 10, 2020.
