CSKU raises demands, warns of indefinite strike

JAMMU, Aug 6: Civic Safai Karamchari Union (CSKU), Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today highlighted its burning demands and warned the authorities of indefinite strike if their demands are not fulfilled.
The Union in a hand out issued today demanded regularization of 600 sanitation workers who have completed 7 years of service as daily wagers, DPC of all cadre in JMC and release of 2 ½ days salary of JMC staff like Driver, Supervisor and Sanitary Inspector.
The CSKU also demanded the authorities to provide uniforms, rain-coats, gloves, masks, sanitizers and all necessary protective measures to NGO sanitation workers (skilled and unskilled). The Union also stressed to give benefit of daily-wager policy to NGO workers who have completed satisfactory 5 years of service in JMC.
“In case our demands are not conceded within 15 days, we will stage protest/dharna on August 9 and on August 17. If no favourable action is taken to fulfill our demands till August 17, we will have no option except to go on indefinite strike from August 18,” the Union added.
