JAMMU, Apr 18: Civic Safai Karamchari Union (CSKU) today gave three days ultimatum to Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) stating that if demands of the Safai Karamcharis are not fulfilled within three days they will go on strike from April 21.
Addressing a press conference here today, Rinku Gill, president of CSKU said that on 28-02-2022 they had served a strike notice to the Jammu Municipal Corporation for repeatedly ignoring their demands and just after receiving the notice, the JMC invited them for a meeting in the Civil Secretariat wherein they were assured by the JMC Joint Commissioner and Health Officer that their demands will be fulfilled within one month.
Gill said on the assurance of the senior JMC officers, they postponed the strike for one month but even a single demand of the Union was not fulfilled and all the assurances of the JMC officers proved to be fake. He said to awake the JMC authorities from slumber and remind them of their assurances, the Union members staged a protest demonstration on April 16 but the authorities again ignored them.
“Finally, we have left with no option rather than to go on strike,” Gill said. He added that Union don’t want to go on strike and so they are serving a final three days ultimatum and if JMC don’t concede their demands within three days, the Union will finally go on strike on 21-04-2022.
